BOE work to start School Based Helth Clinic
In May 2012 Dr. Tom Bigwood brought information to Candler Family Connection meeting about school based Health Clinic that had been started in Ware County and what an awesome program it was, fulfilling the health needs of students. Family Connection contacted Carol Norris, grant writer and evaluator, and immediately begin to work on the project. In August 2012 we were awarded $10,000 Emory Health Care grant to begin our preparing. Since the grant we have distributed surveys and held many community focus groups to prepare our strategy for our business plan to begin grant writing and collaboration of local physicians, pharmacists, school nurses and social workers to have our school based health clinic up and running in our new school in fy 2014.
